Austin police used Google fencing features to catch a criminal in a string of food truck robberies that happened earlier this year, starting in January 2021.
Joshua Terrell Moore, 29, is charged with aggravated robbery in four of the seven robberies Austin police are investigating. He also faces one count of a stolen firearm, according to the Austin Police Department.
The KXAN article states, “according to an arrest affidavit for Moore, APD used geofence features from Google to locate devices in the area at the time of the robberies. One device was detected in the area for the March 26 robbery at Raul’s Taqueria off East Rundberg Lane. That device was connected to a Gmail account for Moore.”
This “locate devices in the area” could not be any more of an illegal admission of an invasion of privacy to all those other individuals that had their devices pinged in the area. But because this story is coming under the guise of stopping crime, then the general public is supposed to just accept the rollout of this technology for the betterment of society, as a whole.
Stories such as this are used by the technocrats to disarm any dissenting opinion to this type of technology because, after all, who would stand opposed to stopping crime? This type of invasive technology is always displayed in the media this way to avoid any public backlash to the actual reason this is being unveiled, which is to get society to unwittingly accept this technology under the pretext of stopping crime or whatever moral justification is presented.
What is not being said is when the controllers of this technology want to impose their tyrannical will on the people and they are left helpless and defenseless against the panopticon of technology they incrementally allowed to engulf them and their freedoms.
